Marquand Books is an art book publishing company based in Seattle. Their clients are art museums, galleries, art dealers, architects, designers, and art book publishers across the country. The old Trading Post was converted into a handsome studio office for Marquand Books. Here, Marquand and his staff create limited edition books and prototype ideas for their clients.
The first project in this space was the signing and editioning of 500 copies of a limited edition book entitled Transfigurations: North Coast Indian Art by George Terasaki and Steven Brown.
The first public event to be hosted by Mighty Tieton drew 1350 antique enthusiasts the weekend of October 20th. A display of Japanese kites, quilts from the Anything Goes Quilters and the Yakima Valley Quilters' Guild, and a large sculpture by Trimpin were exhibited. Musical acts included a barbershop quartet, Los Campesinos de Michoacan, The Inside Out Jazz Quartet, and gospel singers presented by Mitch Weary.
Next fall's Festival will be held October 19-21, 2007. For more information contact Jay Chambers
Every year, San Francisco based CDS Distributing hosts a dinner for its customers and suppliers from the Bay Area and the Yakima Valley. In September, owners Rodney D'Acquisto and Craig Campbell invited 28 guests to a dinner in the theater space at the Mighty Tieton Warehouse. The event was catered by Gasperetti's in Yakima. Orbiting above the heads of the diners was a kinetic sculpture by the Seattle based artist Trimpin entitled Shhh. A large Japanese Kite from the Drachen Foundation, also from Seattle, hung at the opposite end of the table.
