Come see the unique work of poet and artist Nance Van Winckel and Rik Nelson. View the exhibition at the BOXX Gallery, 551 Wisconsin Ave. in Tieton Saturday, September 2, 9 and 16 from 11am to 4pm. The Opening Reception with both artists is on September 2.
Nance is featured as faculty at this year's LiTFUSE and is the author of five books of fiction, most recently Ever Yrs, a novel in the form of a scrapbook. Nance has invented a term for her new, cross-discipline work: the PHO-TOEM. She melds her own photography with small poems and other graphic material she "graffities" onto the photographic surface. Rik Nelson creates fish sculptures fabricated from post-consumer recyclables, like bottle caps, popcorn, cookie and candy tins, aluminum soda, beer and fruit juice cans, and plastic. His works have been on display in Bellingham's Whatcom Museum of History and Art, Portland's Museum of Contemporary Craft, Spokane's Chase Gallery, as well as in New York's American Folk Art Gallery shop, and several other venues.
