Meeting with Michelle Wyles and Karen Quint, owner and director respectively, of the new Boxx Gallery, in Tieton, was like an encounter with a whirlwind of excitement and passion. Michelle and Karen, both artists, live in the rural Highland area that includes the towns of Cowiche and Tieton and are determined to make this unique partnership of culture and community a success. So how did it happen?

Five years ago the Highland Church closed and with it the location of the Highland Food Bank. Michelle and her husband, Rob Wyles, offered the use of part of a Tieton building they own to get the Highland Food Bank running again. Michelle worked as a volunteer at the Highland Food Bank almost every Saturday for many years and realized the need for finding new sources of funding to sustain it."
