The "Highland" area of Tieton and Cowiche takes its historic name from its location "up the hill" from Yakima, Washington. At the Highland High School there is a great deal of pride around being a Highland "Scottie" and wearing plaid kilts during rallies and parades. This mosaic was made by students and alumni from the Highland High School with volunteers from the Highland Community Days committee. Generous funding from Yakima Valley Community Foundation made this public art possible. Even a flat-lander can volunteer or give to the apprenticeship program. Learn more at tietonmosaic.com!
